The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

In this blog, I will be showing you that the Holy Spirit has always existed. This will tie into my blogs about the trinity.

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." - Genesis 1:2

So, here we have in the second verse in the whole Bible a spirit. But not just any spirit. It's the spirit of God. Already, we know God exists and He has a spirit just by reading the second verse in the Bible.

"And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?" - Genesis 41:38

"And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol." - Judges 13:25

"And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man." - 1 Samuel 10:6

"Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah." - 1 Samuel 16:13

"The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life." - Job 33:4

The list goes on. The Old Testament talks about the spirit of God a lot. Not only that, but it talks about God's spirit as if it is distinct from God.

God bless.
