Does the Bible teach a flat Earth

Many people give a bad rap for Christians for thinking they believe in a flat Earth. This is just simple not true and I find it very silly. For one, we do have photographs of the Earth and it is indeed spherical. I think a spherical Earth only shows the power and handy work of God. It is like a basketball, we know someone designed that ball, so someone had to of designed this big ball we call Earth.

The verses that skeptics throw at us involves sayings like "the ends of the earth" or the "four corners of the earth". Yes, many verses do say these, but it does not mean literal ends or corners of the earth.

It is translated "borders" in Numbers 15:38. In Ezekiel 7:2 it is translated "four corners" and again in Isaiah 11:12 "four corners." Job 37:3 and 38:13 as "ends."

The Greek equivalent in Revelation 7:1 is gonia. The Greek meaning is perhaps more closely related to our modern divisions known as quadrants. Gonia literally means angles, or divisions. It is customary to divide a map into quadrants as shown by the four directions.

Some have tried to ridicule the Bible to say that it teaches that the earth is square. The Scripture makes it quite clear that the earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22).

"He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in." - Isaiah 40:22

Many skeptics will even object this. They say it says "circle" of the earth. Yes, it does, but did you know that this verse was originally written in Hebrew. The Hebrew word "Khung" literally means "sphere". So what that verse really says is "He sits enthroned above the SPHERE of the earth." How did someone like Isaiah, that long go know the Earth was spherical? That verse it taken completely out of context.

There are many ways in which God could have said corner. Any of the following Hebrew words could have been used:

- Pinoh is used in reference to the cornerstone.
- Paioh means "a geometric corner"
- Ziovyoh means "right angle" or "corner"
- Krnouth refers to a projecting corner.
- Paamouth - If the Lord wanted to convey the idea of a square, four-cornered earth, the Hebrew word paamouth could have been used. Paamouth means square.

Instead, God selected the word kanaph, conveying the idea of extremity.

" He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing." - Job 26:7

Does the Bible say that the Earth is supported on pillars?

"Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble." - Job 9:6

There is another verse were it talks about these "pillars". I dont think it literally talks about pillars supporting Earth. Pillars could be rock under the earth, and in some cases, pillars could even mean kings or rulers.

The Bible is very vague, and to a certain point, I think has it vague for a good reason. But science doesnt have ANYTHING against the Bible. They only agree, I think the Bible has a lot of science in it and that is why I believe the Bible is inspired by the creator.
