My rebuttles of the "God is imaginary videos"

There are popular videos going around on the internet made by a pro-Atheist group who has there own website that is called "God is imaginary". The videos that they make are pretty popularly viewed, and ha caused huge debate and possibly confusion in many Christian lives. But I think these videos are plain silly, so I have decided to type a blog to refute them.

Proving that prayer is superstition:

At the beginning he says that ever answered prayer is a coincidence. Is he admitting that prayer does work and does get answered? Lets see, there are a lot of people in the world and a lot of prayers do get answered they claim. What does this tell you? Maybe there is a god? He is giving horrible examples of "lucky" items compared to a god. I do just want to say that God does answer every prayer. He either answers it with a yes, no, or a wait. In something like Mark 11:24 and John 14:14, God isn't going t answer your prayer if it involves something that is an abomination to him. The Bible also says not to test God. The stick man in this video is skeptical too I might add. His aunt just told him for the first time that if you pray to god your prayer will be answered. So tell me, why would God answer the prayer of a man, who just met him and isn't sure if god answers prayers or not? Why would he answer a prayer were the guy is only testing to see if God will answer it, and to win a game. That isn't good. God has better ways proving he is real, not just because you pray to win a game.

Proving nobody can get into heaven:

All his arguments in this video are straw man arguments. He quotes things from the Old Testament then compares them to the New Testament. This doesn't apply to Christians because we are not suppose to follow the old law; the law of Moses. That law was given to the Jews and only the Jews for that certain time only. If you know the role of Jesus, you will know that we have broken the law and people are suppose to just drop everything and put there faith in Jesus Christ. Simply as that. Yes, we are to keep the 10 Commandments, but it doesn't say that we are judged by good deeds. The 10 commandments is just for a moral law, to know right from wrong. Of course we are going to break them, that is why Jesus died for us in the first place. What he states in this video is NOT the way to heaven, only by Jesus. Oh and that verse were Jesus said to "hate" didn't really mean hate we know today. It meant to give up everything, and follow me. Same goes for sell everything. The whole role of Jesus is to drop everything, and follow him. Obviously there is more to the verse. It had to be taken out of context because Jesus preached peace throughout the whole NT besides that verse. I don't think in means literal hate. Jesus still wanted us to follow the 10 commandments, so why would he say to hate your parents if he said to honor your parents on Mt.Sinai? Not a contradiction, just taken out of context.

Prove that Jesus is imaginary in less than 5 minutes:

When Jesus said "ask, and ye shall recieve" He was speaking to a specific audience on a specific issue. That being salvation. Jesus was telling Christian, if you ask for anything, you will receive it. Do you think a true born again Christian would ask for something bad, or test God? I would hope not. If they do, then of course there prayer won't be answered.

Proving that the Bible is repulsive:

This video is repulsive! He is bringing up the old law and trying to compare it with today's new law. Let me just make something clear. The Old Testament, was the old law, the law of Moses that was given to the Jews and ONLY the Jews at that time ONLY. That law was a temporary law so God can carry out his big plan for salvation (Jesus Christ). So if you stepped in Gods way, you would be killed. God had to keep the promised land pure and clean for the coming messiah. That's not evil it shows that God means business. And tell me, if the bible is so made up, then why would someone want to create such a strict, "evil" god? The reason why people think the Bible is repulsive, is because they make it that way. If you truly know what the Bible is, you will know it isn't repulsive. Oh and one thing I want to bring up is what he said at the beginning. He said that the Bible does not belong in today's society, when he just brought up 1 Peter 1:24-25. There is your answer right there. The reason why it is in today's society is because God clearly made it clear in that verse and in many, that his word stands forever. I mean, there is a reason why it is in today's society, because people believe it and they have good reasons to. To say the Bible is repulsive, is saying that science and history is repulsive. One thing he also questioned is why people work on the sabbath and don't get stoned for it. Again, people would only be stoned in the old law, but why do people work on the sabbath? Christians no longer follow the sabbath and its feasts and stuff. Our sabbath is Jesus Christ.

Proving that God's Plan is impossible:

Who is he to say that God's plan is impossible. God's plan is already completed. Jesus came and went, that was his plan. No argument, this is an atheist trying to tell a Christian something. Not even going to bother. God does plan, and no he does not want abortions. The reason is, his plan for you if life, and if the mother wants an abortion, she is stepping in front of God's plan. That verse says that he does not plan your death, he just KNOWS your death. So there, the argument is over, no need to move on because he bases his stuff on this.

How do we know that Christians are delusional?:

This video is a joke. Now, I can't speak for every religion, but he has no good dirt on the Christian faith. Of course there were no Jews in America, history can disprove that. But that is Mormonism. He he provide anything that makes a ridiculous claim in the Bible? No, he didn't. There is nothing magical about anything in the Bible, only this guys terminology. He uses the word magical, so that makes it magical. The Bible doesn't say it is magical, it says that it is normal. You got to understand that if God does exist, that he could of created angels. So there is nothing magical about it. Magical ghost? It was the holy spirit, it was god. He goes on to say that all this is "magical". He makes it sound magical because he uses that word. I'll say again, if have to understand that if there is a god, that all this would be possible.

The best optical illusion in the world!:

He gives horrible examples like a jug of milk and compares it to God. No response to this one, it is the same as proving prayer is superstitious.

10 questions that every intelligent Christian must answer:

Before I keep on typing, I just want to make it clear that the guy who is asking these questions is intellectually lazy, and also has no understanding of the Bible. I mean all of this in the nicest way possible, because I am convinced that he himself never gave any of this any serious thought and stuck with his Atheistic skepticism instead.

Question 1: Why won't God heal amputees?

Response: Where in the Bible does it say God will heal amputees? Why should God do it anyways? By asking this question, you are suggesting that God is obligated to healing your amputee when indeed he is not. But I have already answered this question in one of previous blogs entitled "Why won't God heal amputee's?"

Question 2: Why are there many starving people in our world?

Response: Because some countries are less fortunate than others. That is the honest truth. This question does not have to invoke God at all, because God has nothing to do with this. This is where the skeptic first makes his or her mistake when asking a Christian this question. Because that skeptic is trying to bring God into it, when indeed, He has nothing to do with it. But the Bible does answer this in the first book of the entire Bible! You can start reading from Genesis chapter three. To basically sum it up,God is good. And the absence of good is evil. When man sinned, we were seperated from God, because sin is evil and God does not tolerate evil. So if you remove that good, what do you expect to get?

Question 3: Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible?

Response: I think this question fails because it assumes there are innocent people. Of course a skeptic will ask the question like this, because he or she is asking this question from possibly an Atheist point of view instead of looking at it from a Biblical or theological point of view. The Bible says that we are all bad and that we have fallen short from the glory of God. The Bible says that there are none who doeth good, no not one. Also, the Bible actually gives the reason why God kills or demands people to be killed in the Biblical story. All you have to do is read why, right there in the Bible. Plus, this guy has a complete misunderstanding of the Mosaic law.

Question 4: Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense?

Response: The Bible never tries to be a science book to begin with. But I strongly disagree with him. If he is going to ask why is there scientific nonsense in the Bible. Then how does he explain something in the Bible that is extremely scientifically accurate? But he does give specific things he calls scientific nonsense. Let's take a look.

"God did not created the world in 6 days 6,000 years ago"

The Bible never claims that the earth is 6000 years old or that God created 6000 years ago. So this isn't even worthy of going any further.

"There was never a worldwide flood that covered Mt. Everest"

I didn't know the Bible actually said it covered Mt. Everest! It doesn't, so already, this question fails because it didn't even ask it right. But not all Christians agree on the flood. Some hold a local view, where it only flooded in that area. And when the Bible uses the word "world" or "earth", it doesn't have to mean the entire world or earth. It can only mean that area only. So, it could be that the flood covered the highest mountain in that area only.

"Jonah did not live in a fishes stomach for 3 days"

Well, assuming this story is literal true, which I don't see why it wouldn't be. Everything is possible though God, as the Bible says. But if this story isn't literally true, then I think it plays another role. Matthew 12:40 clarifies that this story, was a foreshadow of what Christ would come and do.

"God did not create Adam from a handful of dust like the Bible says"

Well, to be honest, this story isn't much different then from what abiogensis actually teaches. But again, this story doesn't have to be literal.

Question 5: Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery in the Bible?

Response: It's always important to understand how the Bible was written and what culture it was written in. I'm taking it he is talking about the slavery mentioned in the Old Testament. This was something that was acceptable in there culture. But again, he has a complete misunderstanding of what Biblical slavery is. Biblical slaves had more rights then the slaves we think of today. Slavery was actually like a job back then too. It's a tad ironic though, because Christians we apart in actually freeing slaves in America.

Question 6: Why do bad things happen to good people?

Response: Again, this question fails because it assumes that there are good people. Pretty much everything I said while answering question number 2 can be applied to this question.

Question 7: Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles leave behind any evidence?

Response: What kind of evidence are we looking for? I would have to say that there is plenty of evidence for Jesus' miracles. It was recorded down in history. It's called the Gospels. But I could also argue that Jesus' resurrection, also left behind evidence. I would also argue that the event at Jesus crucifixion was also recorded. You know, how darkness covered the land at the time of Jesus. The gospels, plus historians recorded this event and they go hand and hand. Julius Africanus, Thallus and Phlegon recorded this event and I believe it was Phlegon that also recorded an earthquake at that time too, which was also mentioned in the gospels.

Question 8: How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you?

Response: I have already typed about this in one of my other blogs. But where in the Bible did Jesus promise to physically appear to anyone who simply asks?

Question 9: Why would Jesus want you to eat his body and drink his blood?

Response: I'm not sure if this statement even deserves a response. Jesus said that symbolically. He was saying all of this, to fulfill prophecy and to prove that He was the savior. And even the guy in the video admits what Jesus was trying to teach here was symbolic.

Question 10: Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians?

Response: Because Christians are human beings too, just like anyone else. Stuff happens! Relationships don't work out sometimes. Why does it have to be that Christians must stay in a right relationship over anyone else? We are humans too. But the only difference between a Christian and anybody else, is that the Christian has repented of his or her sins.
